When you own a Jeep, you’re naturally pulled into Jeepdom – the kingdom of Jeep. Some owners attest that one of the best aspects of Jeepdom and the Jeep Life is getting connected with a network of Jeepers. In Singapore, the Jeep community is a thriving one that has frequent meet-ups, often for a good cause and at other times, just for the sake of a weekend filled with fun and laughter.
If you’re wondering what exactly the Jeep Owners’ Club in Singapore has been up to, it’s time to take a trip down memory lane. Below are some of the Jeep community events organised and executed in 2019.
The Jeepers in Singapore are on board with enthusiasm for Jeep events, particularly when it involves charitable causes. After all, gathering for the act of giving, whether for the less fortunate or for animals in need, contributes to a sense of social conscience.
Go Topless Day & Food Bank Drive
When: May 2019
Where: Millenia Walk
Each year, Jeep’s Go Topless Day falls on the start of spring, on 18 May. On this special day, Jeepers worldwide gather in clusters for special events where they have the opportunity to take their Jeep tops off. In Singapore, the Go Topless Day coincided with a food bank drive at Millenia Walk. The collection point for food donations was the Jeep pop-up booth. This event saw Jeepers coming together to load collected supplies like rice, oil, canned food and instant noodles into the back of their Jeep to a distribution centre where the foods are sent to charities and soup kitchens.
VFA Dog Adoption Drive
When: April 2019
Where: Sunny Heights
Organised by Voices for Animals (VFA) in collaboration with Jeep, the dog adoption drive in April was a chance for the animal lovers among the Jeep community to get together for a day of furry fun… and perhaps even take home a new family member. VFA holds monthly adoption drives for their rescued dogs, and their strict screening processes point to their deep investment towards the well-being of their rescued animals. Jeep’s involvement on this particular adoption drive helps to support this shelter and its positive causes.
When: June 2019
Where: Singapore Sports Club
First organised in 2017, the Mettle Challenge is a fitness-cum-charity event which sees the community converging to raise funds for the youth centres under the Singapore Children’s Society. These centres instil positive values within youths while providing them the channels to explore their passions and future careers. As the presenting sponsor for Mettle Mobile (the outreach arm of the Mettle Challenge movement), Jeep pledged $0.50 to the youth centres for every rep done along the fitness circuit.
Walk for Our Children
When: July 2019
Where: Palawan Green
Another event organised by the Singapore Children’s Society, Walk for Our Children 2019 is an annual fundraising charity event. Featuring a scenic walkathon route, carnival stalls and other fringe activities along the beach in Sentosa, it encourages family bonding while collecting funds to bring relief and happiness to children in need. Jeep was present to support the event, taking the opportunity to wave in fellow Jeepers and their families to take part in that action-filled Sunday morning.
Adventure and food outings
What better way to bond with the Jeep community than by hitting the road with a fleet of Jeep? Jeep owners are known to be an adventure-loving bunch, and for some of them, outings like these are the very reason for owning a Jeep. It’s the perfect chance to go topless or doorless, venture off the road and simply make good memories with the Jeep alongside fellow Jeepers.
Janda Baik Outing
When: June 2019
Where: Janda Baik
In June 2019, the community of Jeepers from Singapore set off across the border to Janda Baik, a small village in Pahang that’s known for its lush natural scenery. With off-road trails and river crossings, this outing placed the army of Jeep to good use. Along the way, the Jeepers had a refreshing immersion into nature and the chance to feast on fantastic food. To complete the fruitful day, the group stopped at Karak Shilinmen to tuck into fleshy Musang King in the countryside durian plantation.
Where: Multiple locations
Apart from scheduled events and the occasional full-fledged outings, Jeepers also meet up spontaneously for makan and hang-out sessions. As a welcoming and inclusive group, the Jeep Owners’ Club is always open to embracing fresh members and forging friendships over meals!
